Bead core.
The casing(6) of the tire is secured to the two dome-shaped bead cores (4).
The bead wires are laterally confined in the rim ( 3 ) so that the tube remains at high pressure in the tire.
Bead cores are made of steel wire, or flexible Kevlar.
Tires with Kevlar beads can be rolled up (folding tire).
Not to be confused with tires with Kevlar fabric under the tread, which serves to increase the puncture resistance.
